A beaker tong (stainless steel) is a laboratory tool designed to safely handle hot or chemically active beakers during experiments or industrial processes. It is primarily used when beakers are too hot to touch directly after heating on a flame, hot plate, or in an oven. These tongs are constructed from high-quality stainless steel, providing excellent resistance to corrosion, heat, and chemical exposure. Stainless steel also ensures mechanical strength and durability, making the tongs suitable for long-term laboratory use. The jaws of the tongs are often curved, padded, or coated with rubber or PVC to provide a secure grip around the body of the beaker without scratching or cracking the glass. Some models are uncoated for high-temperature environments like open flames or furnaces. The arms are spring-loaded or tension-operated, allowing them to open and close with moderate hand pressure, giving the user precise control. They are generally about 9–12 inches (23–30 cm) long, providing adequate distance from the heat source.
