MultiScan MS 20 – High-Performance Analyzer for Dispersion Stability Testing

The MultiScan MS 20 by DataPhysics Instruments is a cutting-edge device designed for dispersion stability analysis in emulsions, suspensions, and foams. This versatile instrument is essential for R&D and quality assurance in industries such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food and beverage, coatings, and chemicals.

Employing static light scattering technology, the MultiScan MS 20 delivers highly accurate, non-destructive, and time-resolved insights into destabilization processes like sedimentation, creaming, flocculation, and coalescence. It analyzes dispersions in their original state, offering precise tracking of changes over time without altering the sample.

One of its standout features is the modular design with up to six independent ScanTowers, each capable of operating at different temperatures ranging from -10 °C to 80 °C. This allows simultaneous testing under various conditions, significantly improving testing efficiency.

Each tower supports a wide range of sample containers and integrates a high-resolution detector to provide space-resolved measurement data across the entire sample height. A user-friendly touchscreen interface simplifies control, while a built-in barcode scanner ensures seamless sample identification.

The included MSC software manages automated procedures and delivers comprehensive evaluations, generating reliable data for understanding long-term stability and supporting formulation development.

Whether you’re developing new formulations or conducting routine stability checks, the MultiScan MS 20 offers a powerful and precise solution for characterizing complex dispersions with confidence.

The MultiScan MS 20 is the measuring device for the automatic optical stability and aging analysis of liquid dispersions, in particular suspensions and emulsions, and the comprehensive characterisation of time- and temperature-dependent destabilisation mechanisms. It consists of a base unit and up to six connected ScanTowers with temperature-controlled sample chambers. The base unit of the MS 20 features an integrated touch screen that displays status information and can be used to control important base functions. Additionally it is possible to register the studied samples, fast and conveniently, with the built-in or optional handheld barcode scanner. The ScanTowers of the MS 20 can be individually controlled and operated at different temperatures. Electric heating, with liquid counter cooling, allows for measurements in a temperature range of -10 °C to 80 °C.

Features of MultiScan MS 20

  • docking ports for six ScanTowers
  • built-in barcode scanner for an easy and specific sample registration and documentation
  • integrated touch screen for basic operation and control of all connected scan towers
  • measurements at temperatures ranging from -10 °C to 80 °C (temperatures below 4 °C require an optional thermal insulation sleeve)
