The Round Separating Chamber is a high-precision, space-efficient development chamber designed for thin-layer chromatography (TLC). Its cylindrical design ensures even solvent vapor distribution, making it an excellent choice for reliable and reproducible chromatographic separation.

Crafted from premium borosilicate glass or chemically resistant transparent materials, the chamber offers excellent visibility, chemical durability, and thermal resistance. The round structure supports natural, symmetrical vapor saturation, which promotes uniform solvent front movement and minimizes edge effects. This ensures consistent development quality across the entire TLC plate.

Most round separating chambers support TLC plates up to 20×20 cm in size and come with flat or ground-glass lids that provide an airtight seal, reducing solvent evaporation and maintaining a stable development environment. Some variants include internal grooves or racks for securely positioning plates in a vertical orientation during development.

The transparent walls of the chamber allow researchers to observe the progress of solvent migration and ensure timely removal of plates once the front reaches the desired height. These separating chambers are very easy to use. Complete gas space saturation is easily and quickly achieved by putting a rolled-up piece of filter paper in the chamber. Only a very small quantity of flow medium is required, by virtue of the plain floor. Another advantage is their limited weight compared to the Standard chambers.
